Some of the latest happenings
Aloha Friends,
If you're wondering, I've been feeling pretty good most of the time as long as I pace myself and take care of what I eat. I'm not always feeling well, but when I am I seem to get a lot accomplished. I'm happy to say that I just finished producing my first documentary video. I shot and edited it during the last 2 months. It's going to air on television here in a few of weeks on 'Oleleo Community Television. I plan on entering it in the Hawaii Film Festival and beyond. I have a couple other video project I'm working on and a few more that I am developing. Sean Tiwanak the Producer. Watch out Hollywood!
In addition to that, I recently had the opportunity to write and arrange a Hawaiian Mele (song) to honor Mother Marianne Cope of Moloka'i. I co-wrote the song with E. Napua Pa'ele, and my good friend LA Producer Steffen Presley (www.song-haven.com) helped my develop a female choral arrangement. I was thrilled that I was able to get a choir of 13 women from the community. Most of the singers came from the Honolulu Symphony Chorus. We had an all female choir of Sopranos and Altos. We performed at The Co-Cathedral of St Theresa on January 23rd. We have big plans for the choir and song. We'll be recording and performing more this year. Look out for more choir arrangements and CD coming soon.
Also coming up, new releases from me. I have a couple of CD projects in the works, and I'll have BIG news soon on a project I will begin producing soon. Also a new website for my movie and production company Pono Hawaii Productions.
In the meantime, I have videos coming out, including live performances. Plus, you can catch me around with my ukulele, guitar, and lately I've been getting back into playing electric. I really love my Fender Stratocaster. I've been breaking it out at gigs and letting her rip.
Speaking of gigs, expect to see more of Roland Cazimero in the future. We had a great show at the last First Friday on Febuary 1st. The crowd was great and the music was "smokin!".
That's all for now. My love to you all. Rock on and stand firm.
Aloha,
Sean

"Home To Me" by Sean Tiwanak; Na'io Productions

Genre: World music.
Distinguishing notes: Music has been a therapeutic element in the life of singer-composer Sean Tiwanak, who was challenged with congestive heart failure but found solace and strength in the 18-month process of recording this, his debut CD. Tiwanak sings, strums 'ukulele and delves into traditional Island percussion implements like ipu and 'ili'ili. Thus, this CD is both a celebration of his talent and an inspiration for others with bumps in their road — who may discover the value of music for healing and expression.
Tiwanak's originals are simple yet eloquent impressions of the joys of life, in English ("Aloha Uhane — Ooh Honey," "Lori Baby"), in Hawaiian ("A Ke Kai") and in both languages ("Home To Me"). The catchy refrains of "Hula Love/The Tide Is High" could be the key track that captures Tiwanak's zest for life; the medley certainly has commercial appeal with its reggae-lite bounce. Perhaps a line from his liner notations sums it up best: "Welcome to the soundtrack of my life."
Our take: Give a listen; everyone loves an underdog success story.
